Flying in looked like this and I knew Wynn and I were in the right place. We will be in New Zealand for about 7 days. They joke here about having all four seasons in one day. Wynn and I are used to that in Ohio too.

Our hotel in Queenstown is right on the lake in downtown so we can walk to restaurants, sightseeing and shopping. This old church is said to be the most expensive piece of real estate in the city. We stayed at another Novatel.

The last pic was taken outside our hotel. We walked around town a bit and got a pic of the church and a few other spots in town. I love the town square clocks. Their Hungry Jacks are like our Burger King.

The Fergburger is suppose to be a must have in Queenstown. Maybe we will get a burger there tomorrow. IMG_0812.jpeg

Wehad a team dinner in the hotel restaurant and this was our menu. The food was delish and the dessert was light and airy. it was Kiwi Pavlova, named after a Russian Ballerina that came to visit. It is a meringue that is browned lightly and then topped with fruit and whipped cream.

Weds the 15th started with a 6:00 alarm. Breakfast was at 6:30 and we were on the bus at 7 am. It was so nice to leave our stuff in the same place (for another 2 nights.) 5 1/2 hours later we were at our sailing port. On the way was one of the most scenic drives I have ever seen. The mountains, lakes, waterfalls and kea birds were all amazing and that is before we even got into the Milford Sound. Here is just a sampling. If you want to see all the crazy pics I took, you will have to come over for a picture night. Suffice it to say it was breathtaking!

New Zealand has a lot of Sheep Stations( farms) along with cattle and deer farms. It was right after lambing season and there were so many ewes with twin lambs. We also had one stop on the way to the Sound that was called Mirror lakes. When the ducks weren’t making ripples in the water, we were able to see beautiful reflections from the mountains.

We got to our destination at 12:30 pm and we’re ready to embark at 1pm. This beautiful Sound was used in many movies, including the Lord of the Rings. There were many sights we recognized. There was a postcard view every time we turned a corner. It was a bit rainy when we got on we were in the second deck and had box picnic lunches waiting for us. Then I can’t believe it- the sun came out and it was a perfect time to be on the water. Here are a few pics to whet your appetite. Come on over and see the rest.

This outing was definitely a highlight on this trip. The beauty was all about us and I am saving away for all the gray days of winter in Ohio. Of course I took a few more pics on the way home just for you! We ended our day by going to get pizza at Winnie’s. Feet are up and tomorrow will bring new adventures.

We have enjoyed meeting new friends on this tour. Buster and Sherry are a couple we met from New York and we missed Buster today. He was feeling a bit poorly this morning. Claire made her version of Flat Stanley (FlatBuster) to take along with us to the Fjord. What a great day. By the way, spring flowers are blooming here.
