My first time in Connecticut and loving it! We started out on the road at 6am. It was cool and drizzly but we enjoyed seeing the trees starting to turn in PA. We drove straight across on I-80. Traffic was light for the first 6 hours.

We got a call from our schooner ride in Newport, RI on the way saying that the ride tomorrow was doubtful because of pending rain, so would we want to ride tonight at 5pm. We tried to move along (I was driving) but there was stop and go traffic and a couple of accidents that slowed things down. We called her back and decided to pass on tonight's ride. On a whim, I tried to call Argia Sailing and see if they had any tickets available for a sail ride tonight in Mystic and they had two left. We found out where to park and walked the short distance to the wharf. Here are a couple of pics from our walk downtown. We passed Mystic Pizza and of course took a pic there. We also saw the big drawbridge drawn up.

We got there at 4pm for a 5:30 departure. It was a wonderful adventure. We got a little damp on the way home, but we did get to see a wonderful sunset and be out on the water for 2 hours. Here are a few shots from the boat.

We saw the lighthouse where the the first woman was the light keeper. We also saw the lighthouse on Dumpling Island. And of course Fisherman Island where all the rich dudes live.

Upon returning we stopped at Texas Roadhouse for steak and ribs along with salads and broccoli…yum! We are staying at a Quality Inn in Mystic and are looking forward to a good night sleep! Tomorrow we have plans to do a few inside things and hope to get a visit in with Bill Smyrnow! Newport, RI, here we come…ready or not!
